General:

  • Mega.co.nz downloads crash my browser, or stop before finishing

The Battle for Middle-earth (BfME1):

  • I can not play the single player (campaign) ;(
  • It says I have to insert the correct bfme disk
    • Mount the mini images to launch, not the image (.iso) with which you installed it

The Battle for Middle-earth II (BfME2):

  • The T3A online server broke after I switched patch
    • Use version 1.6 of the patch switcher, it's in the download section
  • I'm getting automatically defeated after three minutes and thirty seconds

  • I'm getting a System Error saying: "game.dat - System Error The Program can't start because D3DX9_27.DLL is missing from your computer..."
  • When I apply patch 1.00 the All-in-one patcher&installer crashes and the game doesn't start anymore. Even applying 1.06 or 1.08 doesn't work. (Until now only seen on win8)
    • Reinstall the patcher and reinstall the game. (There are probably some files corrupted)
  •  I'm getting the "wrong cd inserted" or "no cd inserted" error even tough I mounted the mini images
    •  Use Daemon Tools Lite! This is very important! The mini images are a trick, and this trick only works with the lite version of Daemon tools. Once you've installed that, make sure that you've copied the both images (.mds and .mdf) to the same folder, and that you've only mounted the .mds
  • I'm using Daemon Tools Lite and am still getting an error
  • I get an error saying "wrong CD inserted" even tough I have mounted the mini image
    • Go to the tBfME2 installation folder (right click the shortcut --> open file location, or go to [C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Battle for Middle-earth™ II]) Right click lotrbfme2.exe, Properties -> compatibility -> Change Settings for all users -> tick out the compatibility mode.

The Rise of the Witch-king (RotWK):

  • I'm getting a game crash error saying "An upgrade mask references Upgrade_TREESTART..." (screenshot)
    •  Change your BfME2 version to 1.06 or get the latest patch from GameReplays, which is fully compatible with 1.08
  • My game doesn't start (after fresh install)
    • use this fix (The ROTWK one obviously)
  • I have another problem
    • Try if your BfME2 works, RotWK and BfME2 should be able to work both. Maybe one of the BfME2 FAQ's above solves your problem.
